Just got back from "Public Enemies" (finally!) and I understand Johnny Depp is attractive and all that, but Christian Bale is THE HOTTEST MAN in the movies these days. (And I'm not talking about his temper - I'm talking SEXY!) All apologies to my two other favs - Viggo Mortensen and James McAvoy - but Mr. Bale is to melt for! I love his intense gaze, his almost a smile, his gentleness for all the passion. Be still my heart!
Movie was pretty good. A little long. Gives a little background I didn't realize - they make it look like Dillinger and his ilk were becoming "outdated" even as the FBI was hunting him down full tilt. It was the rise of more organized gangsters; bookies, betting, etc. with the mob infiltrating that and making a lot more money than robbing banks.
If they said "South Bend," (IN) I missed it, though I understand there was a Dillinger bank robbery there and shooting. The South Bend Tribune ran a story when I was visiting there in late June...
